William Smith was a dedicated community editor, co-founder of The Burlington Beacon, and former general assignment reporter for The Hawk Eye. As a journalist, Will spent years writing about the people and places of southeast Iowa and western Illinois, composing countless profiles on residents, covering local events, and making sure the voices of our community were heard. His sudden passing at the age of 45 has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew him and in the community he served.
Will’s family is now facing the difficult task of covering funeral costs and other final expenses. As someone who gave so much to others, we hope to come together to support his loved ones during this challenging time.
